Equipment and Supplies – Equipment and supplies will be obtained for the patient in accordance with physician orders. Equipment and supplies are provided as needed by the patient and include:
- Durable medical equipment such as beds, walkers and commodes
- Medical supplies such as gloves, bandages, and catheters
Outpatient Medical Care – Patients may require outpatient services such as x-rays, lab tests, or a trip to the emergency room. Hospice will ensure that the patient receives these services as ordered by the physician and in accordance with the palliative focus of care.
Medications, supplies, equipment and medical services may be covered 100% under the patient’s Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance hospice benefit if they are authorized by the physician and are related to the patient’s terminal diagnosis. Those recommended for circumstances not related to the patient’s terminal illness may be obtained by the patient, but will not be paid for by the hospice.
