I started with Hospice of the Midwest in January of 2016, when the agency was barely a year old. It has been my pleasure, and my privilege, to be a part of the growth process of our agency. I am now the PCM for the Guthrie Center location and have the privilege of working with four RNCMs, four (and a half) CNAs/HHAs, two social workers, a chaplain, a massage therapist, a music therapist, and our team coordinator. My duties, over the past five years, have included direct patient care, educator, mentor, preceptor, marketing (not officially, but more facial recognition in the communities of our territory), scheduler, and clinical manager.
One of the best things about Hospice of the Midwest, and Abode Healthcare, is that I am supported and encouraged by my team members and management. As a manager, I am educated, encouraged, and supported by upper management in the growth and development of my staff. This is a company that allows one to grow in their present position, or to step out of one’s comfort zone and grow into a new role.
In all my years of nursing, I can say honestly, that nursing in the Hospice field, especially with Hospice of the Midwest and Abode Healthcare, my nursing heart has never been more satisfied and happy. While, at the time I joined this company, I was not looking for another job; I am beyond blessed that the opportunity was presented to me and that I accepted it.
