I have been with Hospice of the Midwest for 2 years in January of ’21. I have previous experience as a Chaplain for 18 years, specializing in Grief and Loss. While my past ministry positions encompassed both Volunteer Coordination and Pastoral Care in the community, they did not exclusively utilize my Chaplaincy skills. When I saw the position with Hospice of the Midwest, I thought to myself, “I am made for this position.”
I can honestly say that I absolutely love almost every aspect of what I do within my position, such as: hosting grief and loss groups (even on Doxy.me), meeting with new volunteers for training, keeping our volunteers engaged, working with special events like We Honor Veteran Ceremonies, and even creating videos about how our volunteers touch our patients’ and their families’ lives. I especially enjoy Remembrance Ceremonies and working with children who are experiencing grief, with the help from my certified Therapy Dog, Liam!
Our Hospice of the Midwest – Minnesota staff is amazing! Everyone is so compassionate, treating their patients and their family members as if they were their own.
